At the far Eastern end of Glen Coe lies Buachaille Etive Mor. Affectionally known as the Buachaille, this mountain has perhaps the greatest concentration of quality scrambles of any mountain in the area. Undoubtedly the most photographed mountain in all of Scotland "the sight of its huge conical mass, when driving north over Rannoch Moor, is enough to quicken the pulse of any enthusastic scrambler or climber." (Scrambles in Lochaber). With unrivalled views over Rannoch Moor and an incredible situation flanked by an imposing wall on one side and a vast expanse on the other this classic is one not to miss.
The way to summit Buachaille Etive Mor. This should be on every keen mountaineer's ticklist.
"The Buachaille, or Stob Dearg to give it it's proper name, is a mountain for all seasons with climbs to suit varying abilities, from the connoisseur of the traditional gully climb, to the modern test pieces [...]. In winter The Buachaille is transformed into a peak of alpine splendour with a selection of some of the finest and most challenging ridges, buttresses and gullies to be found in Glen Coe."
